The Recreation and Leisure Industry (who should be reading this blog)?


Lets discuss what kind of businesses belong to the Recreation and Leisure Industry.

As leisure time and personal incomes grow, so does the recreation and leisure industry. From museums to fitness centers, any activity that occupies a person’s leisure time is part of this industry.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics the diverse activities in the Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation can be categorized into these groups:
  1. live performances or events
  2. historical, cultural, or educational exhibits
  3. recreation or leisure-time activities

Live performances or events:
  • Professional and amateur spectator sports

  • Performing arts, artists and writers

Historical, cultural, or educational exhibits:
